when i started buying napkins to dress my table i realised it had finally happened.. somehow i'd turned into an actual grown up. i really love dressing tables for dinner- even an informal bbq gives me the perfect excuse to play adult and get out all my favourite plates and stuff.
since joining the napkin club i've not come across any napkin rings that i like so i decided to make my own. the best part is that i managed to use up some leftover leather so this was one of those 2 birds one stone kinda DIY!
these leather napkin rings will take you no more than 10-15 minutes to make, read on and i'll show you how to make your own.
materials:
craft knife or rotary cutter
1. decide how wide you want your napkin rings to be (mine are 2"x6" each) measure out the dimensions onto the leather.
2. cut out the leather strips with a craft knife.
3. make a cut into the leather at opposite ends as shown above (approx 1cm from the edge)
4. to finish the napkin rings just slot the cuts together! easy peasy.
i love to place a sprig of eucalyptus into mine, it smells gorgeous and adds a little colour. i wanted a clean and natural theme so i'm really pleased with them.
for a formal dinner party you can slip in place card names too.
hope you like!
back soon
