sometimes there's nothing as satisfying as a quick DIY and this storage grid totally fits the bill. you may remember i posted this metal memo board a few years ago but with this version you can store stuff in a handy pocket!
when i was in sweden last year i discovered this grid storage, after i returned home i discovered they didn't ship to the uk so i'd missed my chance to nab one- gah. i spotted some flexible garden mesh recently and decided to update my home office with a DIY version instead!
materials:
you may not see clearly from the above photo but the original garden mesh was green, so it needed a little update before i could use it indoors!
1. to create the pocket simply fold the bottom of wire mesh upwards. for this project you'll need to buy a flexible mesh that will bend like these.
2. as the wire is plastic coated i gave the wire mesh a spray of plastic primer. (you may be able to skip this step and go straight to using spray paint- try a test patch to see if the paint dries properly without the primer first though.)
3. once the paint has fully dried it's ready to use!
this memo board is 100 times lighter than my former DIY version and way easier to play around with. the little pocket is great for stashing magazines and paper (and the board is the perfect place to pin cute photos!)
you could totally use this board in the kitchen too! invest in some s-hooks and you can hang scissors and utensils galore..
hope you like!

oh you! thanks petal :)
DeleteLove this Caroline! I was thinking about making one for my study based on your other diy :) How sturdy is this one? Just thinking about if it will get out of shape . And how did you fix it to your wall?
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work - your DIYs are always so simple and effective!
it's pretty sturdy! you can totally bend it so it's not a heavyweight one but when i've added weight that's not pulled it out of shape at all! you can put 2 screw hooks into a wall and just hang the mesh off them- hope that helps :)
DeleteOMG, what an excellent job. I love THS idea, thank you!
