this is my favourite DIY this year! I kept seeing expensive studded shirts that I was seriously tempted to buy but since I've completely overran my budget this month I decided to make my own! Its so easy and I'm totally in love with my new creation! I ordered some studs from etsy (great website for craft supplies) they took some time to arrive since the seller was in thailand but if you're in a hurry you could probably find a uk seller on amazon!
I just took my shirt and laid the studs out in a rough arrangement until I had an idea where I wanted them. the studs have two prongs in the back, luckily the fabric was so light I was able to just push the prongs through and fold them over. use a hammer to gently tap the prongs closed on the underside of the collar. I worked from the tip of the collar adding rows increasing by one stud each time.
I was going to stud the entire collar but I changed my mind and just did two triangles! plus this means I have enough left over studs to decorate something else. I have a feeling one of my handbags is going to get a makeover next...
hope you like it! caroline x

ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful! I have seen shirts like this in stores, and they are usually so expensive, this is such a great wallet friendly alternative :)
